Trouble recording voiceovers

Hi:

I'm having some trouble recording voiceovers. I'm using two AT4040 mics and an Edirol preeamp and recording into Final Cut. For some reason Final Cut refuses to recognize my second microphone, even though I know it's working because it registers in other applications. Is Final Cut somehow set to only register one channel? How can I fix this?

I think for the internal VO recoder yes. It is one channel. I could be wrong. Why don't you just use sound track pro to record it. Or you could even use garage band
 
Audio that you record using the The FCP Voice Over tool is placed in the audio track connected to the audio channel 2 Source control and thus yes, works with a single channel input. The problem with recording with another tool is you lose nice cues and interface features that are designed to make Voice Over easier. All the details can be found in Volume III, Chapter 8 of the FCP 5.x User Manual.
