Okay, I know this isn't film related, but maybe somebody here can help me out.
I've got an HP OfficeJet 4500 wireless printer. It's been connected via USB to my desktop PC for quite awhile and works great that way. But now I want it to connect wirelessly to my netbook, and I'm running into problems.
The PC runs Windows 7. The netbook runs Windows XP.
The wireless on the printer is configured. It sees the wireless router, and the wireless router sees it. The printer's MAC address shows up in my 'attached devices' list for the wireless router, and is also included on the access control list. (No encryption on my router.)
The netbook sees the wireless router and the Internet, but it doesn't see the printer. So I can't connect wirelessly to the printer from the netbook.
In experimenting, I shared the printer from my desktop PC. The netbook sees the shared printer, but won't install it. When I try to connect to the shared printer on the netbook, it says there's not a correct version of the printer driver on the print server.
I looked on HP's support page. They said to download and install the software for the printer on the netbook, then run the software and it should detect and install the printer. It doesn't detect the printer. I've even tried connecting the printer straight to the netbook via the same USB cable I use to connect it to my desktop, and the software still doesn't detect the printer.
So I'm confused. Anybody got any ideas?
