Trouble exporting video from Pro-Tools

Hello all,

I am currently have trouble exporting my quicktime file via firewire to a external monitor for ADR work. Once the quicktime file is in pro-tools, the option to play the quicktime file via firewire is ghosted out for some reason.

Is there a specific codec that the quicktime files needs to be encoded in, in order for pro-tools to recognize it?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No ProTools video playback is via Quicktime, so anything your version of Quicktime can play PT can use. However to play out the firewire port it needs to be a DV stream. So that is probably your problem. Also be aware that playing out FW through a converter to a monitor takes some time, so your picture will be in the range of 22 1/4 frames behind the timeline and you need to use the movie offset setting to put get them in sync.

I don't check in here all the time so if you have other questions you may want to contact me off list
