Can't wait. I just hope they don't botch it with this bad rash of attention deficit disorder editing that is plaguing high budget films...Take a good film, and pace it twice as fast with twice as many token shots, and you get a bad film.
Part of the reason that I like Tron so much is because of the time that it was made. They did that will cell animation and very basic (but incredibly difficult for the time) computer graphics. Watching it back when it was released was unlike anything ever seen. Watching it now I still marvel that they made it when they did and made it successfully. Any Tron made today would just be modern day CG and it would not have the awe and splendor that Tron has.
A remake of the original Tron? Aside from hype-editing, cant wait to hear which MTV "Flavors of the Month" hip hop, hip hop/rap combo band, and American Idol winners will be on the soundtrack. Year 2000+ remakes suck.
I was never a really big fan of the orginal Tron when it came out. I just never really understood the movie as a kid. The video game was also not very good. I still don't get the movie. I guess I'm just dumb. ???
Are we talking Discs of Tron here? Man, I still play that game to this day! "Bring in the logic probe." Great stuff. Discs of Tron and the old Atari vector graphic Star Wars game pretty much defined my childhood ... now you've got me in the mood for some Discs of Tron. ;D
I saw Tron when it originally came out at the theater. It was great! What made Tron so special was that it was about a futuristic gadget that was just making its way into everyones home. Computers. Very few people had them, but everyone wanted one. So when they made a movie about a futuristic world inside a computer it was like Middle Earth or something. (Excuse me for a moment while I beat myself up for being a geek. ...Ok, I'm back.) A remake about a movie that intoduced the world to computers is stupid. It's like a remaking War Games (another great movie that introduced the world to hackers). Do a sequel and make it about gamers. Idiots!

WOAH! Let's not say things we can't take back! (DOTD:04? Anyone)[/quote]
Hate to say it, but DOTD:04' wasnt that great. The social commentary from the original was lost. Wasn't the story about people finding paradise in a mall, only to lose it? So many new, USELESS characters, so many subplot storylines that went nowhere. I'm still trying to figure out why the the deleted scenes werent deleted from the script BEFORE filming(talk about empty pockets), as these scenes were time killers and nothing else. Mekhi Pfiffer and the russian chick had zero chemistry as couple--or was it just bad directing/acting? Was all the MTV editing really necessary? I think this was Resident Evil:Apocalpyse Lite, minus the babes and the action. Romero's version (made for less money, no CGI, and actually attempted to tell a story)of DOTD still is the king.
