Tristram Shandy

Hi all:

I watched a GREAT film last night, Michael Winterbottom's Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story. It was a joy to watch, Steve Coogen and the rest of the cast, many of whom are regulars from other British films, 24 Hour Party People, The Office, Harry Potter, etc. Awesome cast, great direction, very original story concept. But what really struck me was the beautiful cinematography by Marcel Zyskind.

I suspect that it was shot digitally, does anyone know what kind of format/camera was used? I loved how it looked, beautiful and interesting shots abound.

If you are sick of stupid, formulaic American comedy, rent this one, it's awesome.

Hi Cheese:

900, huh? Wow, I really dug the look.

Out of curiosity, what speciifically about it did you not like? I am at the point where I almost am beginning to like anything original (yes, it was a mockumentary but I felt much more involved with the characters and the filming than I did in Spinal Tap or Best in Show, two films I also love) and non-Hollywood.

Best,

Dan

Cracking up at the moment that you have a Michael Bay quote about STORY, cheesesailor.

puredrifting, I also really enjoyed the movie; not so much for what it was but for what it wasn't. In the end I was basically left wondering, "What was all that about?" but I definitely enjoyed myself and was interested the whole time. I'm definitely in that place where I'll give tremendous respect to anything original, even if it's traditionally flawed.

Do any of you know if what we are seeing on the DVD is a direct transfer of the HD edited master or do you think what we are seeing in this film is a transfer of the film master used to make the prints that were in the theaters?

The image seemed to be pretty filmic, I am curious if you can obtain this image directly from the HDCAM master?
