So I'm looking to get a decent tripod and I would like to go with the one that Rush suggested which is

but I can't seem to find it anywhere locally (I don't want to have to pay for shipping, customs/duties/brokerage, etc)

I did find this one

with the same 501 fluid head as the one Rush suggested... So I'm wondering if the actual tripod part of this second one is comparable to the first.

Hi Yoey! I looked into it, I think it's a smaller lighter version of the 3221, kind of like a 3001. It also looks like the older version with the turn-style knobs for locking the legs in position, rather than the push clasps. That said, you can probably use it just fine. I have a 3001BPRO, and it works great with my 503 for hikes. It looks sturdy enough, and from my experience, all Bogen photo-style tripods are essentially put together with the same quality down the line.

You are losing the legwarmers on the 3221 though ;D

It looks just like my 3011 - might they use different numbering in Canada?

Anyway, the 3011 works fine for the camera, and pretty well even with a CobraCrane Backpacker Jib. Sturdy and TALL!
