Which one is better? Old Vinten Pro 5 or newer Libec LS-38?
I've used Vinten, but used very very much so it has some things wich i dont like... What about Libec? It has very good review...

Thanks

I have the LS-38 and love it! It's a pretty standard tripod made of heavy duty parts that I've never had a problem out of. The fluid head is very smooth and the knobs are easy to tighten/loosen. My only complaint about this tripod is that there is no adjustment for the amount of drag in the pan and tilt. I've never really had a situation where such an adjustment was critical to my shot, but it would have been nice to have.

Emilio,

The old Vinten Pro 5 is (I think) either an old-style Manfrotto/Bogen 501 or 503. Not the HDV series.

The LS-38 is a pretty good tripod. No frills, not much to adjust, nothing to go wrong. There's no adjustable drag, but a lot of people find the LS-38's drag fine for them. There's no adjustable counterbalance, which makies it a pain to use with smaller cameras, but some people don't seem to mind this.

A straight choice between Vinten Pro 5 and LS-38 to me would mean the LS-38 would win.

There may be other choices though.

It would help if you could tell us:
- what your budget is?
- what's your camera? (and will it be "naked" or tricked out with rods, Matte box etc.)
- and what do you intend to use the rig for? (weddings? wildlife? documentary?)
