tripods and EVS/Rush

the 755 MDeVe doesn't have a ball leveler. It's a photography tripod, like Barry said levelling your video camera will be a royal pain...
Disagree. The 755 MDeVe *does* have a built-in ball leveler. It's designed for video, not photography (hence the "DV" in its "MDeVe" name).

I thought it was probably a bit of a joke when I bought it -- I just wanted a lighter tripod for keeping on the equipment cart, I was tired of carrying the 14-pound 3068 legs. But Rush at EVS recommended it, and demonstrated it, and I thought -- aw, what the heck. Since then I use that little tripod way more than I ever thought I would! It's pretty well designed, and SO MUCH LIGHTER than the huge 3068 legs. If you want a lighter one, they sell a version of it with carbon-fiber legs that's about 1.5 pounds lighter.

I have to say I am in love with my Sachler DV-2II. The only downside is the two-stage legs. I should have gone 3-stage. Other than that, it is amazing. MUCH better than the 501 I ised to work with, and I think the head design kicks the Miller in the butt - although millers movement is also great. I never used the 503 though, and sure enough, the DV-2 is not for heavy setups...

Didn't know, never used one. I just looked at the picture an it looked to me that there was no ball leveler... sorry, my mistake.

speaking of the 755 MDeVe....does anyone think that it is worth saving 40 or so bucks and going with the 756? http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=756B so it doesn't handle as big of a load or go quite as high... I am asking the pros that know how much all the equipment added together weigh (because i don't ) will this matter for any situation that I find myself in. Also, is 48 inches high enough? I am just wondering if the 756 is still a good tripod. I also would like it if I could purchase the 503 head with this tripod with a bag in a set.... They don't make this combination though....does this mean that I have to do it myself and purchase seperately? I know very little about tripods...does this combination make sense? I just know I need something!!!
