the feet don't look very substantial. if your budget is in the $300 range, look at the sanford and davis (tiffen) line. we have a fm-18 head? bh sells them, I am sure. - it is pretty good for the money. admittedly, I recently upgraded the tripod and now it is a backup. reason was I wanted something a bit more idiot proof, heavier, and smoother- but that is more than twice the price. they also recently upgraded the tripod I recommended. a few parts used to be light plastic. they replaced it with metal, I believe. it also comes with a bag.

You could spend a little more and get a nice Bogen tripod w/ a 501 head. Or, spend even a little more money than that and get the 503 head.

They have em at EVS, and we get our discount.

I have the 503 and it is not so great. Spend a little more money to get something good.

Sachtler, if it fits on there. But I am not an expert on tripods.

All I know is that Sachtler heads are smooth as sex copared to the Bogen 503.
