Tripod screw(s)

How is everyone attaching their HVX200's to their tripods? One screw or two or what ? I dont get the extra threadless hole at the base of the camera and how it attaches to a tripod and/or mounting plate. Most mounting plates have a 3/8" and 1/4" screws. HVX only has the 1/4". Im attaching the camera right now with one screw, thats it, and it does not feel safe or correct. ......thanks. . . .

Looks like your first handheald camera, Welcome.

All DV Small camecrders only use one 1/4" screw, the other hole is for the registration pin that keeps the camera from swinging.

What is it that you are trying to do that you need to get the screw and pin?

Could you just buy a mounting plate that already has them both, and build around that, if you are indeed building something?

I just feel that with having it attached with only one 1/4" screw, the camera would be a bit vulnerable if it was not tightened enough or if I over tighten it would mess up the thread on the camera. . ..

dusterdoo,

No need to worry. all DV tripod heads are suplied with a 1/4" screw and a pin in the plate, ready for your camera and designed for it. This is the standard. Everybody in the world are using this syatem. I agree it is not perfect but it is good enough.
