Tripod: Sachtler/ Gitzo/ Vinten

Hi. I want to buy a tripod for miniDV to HD shooting. Most people seem to like the Sachtler DV 6, which is more expensive than the Gitzo G-1380 or Vinten Pro-10. I'd like to save money, but not at the expense of reasonable quality.

Secondly, if anybody's in LA, do you know anyplace where I could test out these three tripods? I tried Samy's and Abel Cine Tech) but they don't have all three. Any advice?

Good luck finding anywhere with the Gitzo on the floor, they are rare. I went to the Bogen USA website and called every Gitzo dealer in the valley and LA and nobody had one to play with, most of them were camera shops that only had the Gitzo still tripods.

I bought the Sachtler DV-6SB with the Miller Solo DV legs from Abel, trust me, I am picky and it is the best bang for the buck. The low end Vintens are Bogens (not sure about the Pro-10), need I say more? The cheapo Sachtlers are assembled in Costa Rica, not Germany but I still totally am in love with mine, it works so well with the Millers and the HVX.
