would it be possible to find a used tripod for no more than $200 that would be able to support my XHA1 + Letus setup? The rig weighs approximately 13lbs.

Tripod, maybe. Tripod with a good fluid head, probably not. BUT, you never know till you start searching....

I don't understand why people keep spending small fortunes on cameras, blowing all the budget, and then expect to pay a pittance for a tripod, when it is such a key piece of film-making equipment. Seriously - go hand-held (after some weight-lifting), or rent, or borrow a tripod. Wait a while and save some up more money. You'd have to be really lucky to get a good tripod, even second-hand, at $200.

Realistically, the absolute bare minimum for that sort of setup would be something like a Manfrotto 503HDV set-up, and that is very basic stuff - around $600 new.

In my opinion, the bare minimum should be no less than $1000 for a new tripod, considering the setup. In any case, there is a Manfrotto 501HDV + 028B tripod in B&H used section that's going for $370, but it's max capacity is 13.2lbs, so it's cutting it close enough for your setup.

no, I completely understand that support for a $5,000 rig should itself be expensive. but I couldn't help but ask.
