Tripod Opinions?

I was wondering the opinions on cranes. I don't have enough money to get the best of the best, however I intend to get a kessler crane. So I want to get a tripod that is more then adequate to support it. Opinions? Pros? Cons?

Thanks.

I would say the Manfrotto 528xb, it's one of the strongest for the price. It's rated for 66lbs. I use them for my light jibs cause they're not too bulky but I've had some much heavier cranes on them pushing 300 lbs with counterweight and 35mm camera with 1000' mag.

only $619 from B&H

I have a Kessler KC8 crane and I have a couple tripods, at first I tried my Bogen/Mofrotto combo with my 501 head and it did not work well at all, there was way too much weight on it. I ended up getting a massive Bogen 316 and some beefier legs along with a tripod dolly for the crane setup. A Bogen 503 could possibly work, but I would recommend a head with a much higher weight rating, especially if you want to be able to use the manual tilt mode.

How about the Bogen 503 head with the 525 legs? ...I know they aren't supposed to hold too much weight but I wonder if anyone has tried that combo so far...
