Tripod joints have expanded

I have a Manfrotto 501 tripod and somehow the joints seem to have expanded or something, because the legs can now be pulled out without unhinging the clips. This translates to the legs easily shrinking back down when the tripod is open. I think perhaps it got hot. Whatever the case, any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Yes, just tighten the screws that clamp the legs (with the thumb tensioner in the open/loose position)
