Tripod Head for Canon C300

Hey there,

I am currently using a Manfrotto 501HDV head and Gitzo GT2531LVL legs.

looking to replace the 501 with something perhaps a little lighter with a 10+ lb load capacity.
I do a lot of travel work, so anywhere I can cut weight, the better.

My C300 is typically used with a 24-70 2.8 or 70-200 2.8 lens (+ monitor, microphone, etc...)

looking into the Manfrotto MVH500AH, but that might be close to the maximum load capacity when I put the 70-200 on the camera....

Thoughts on what options I should consider?

Manfrotto just released the new N8, which looks to be the perfect solution. I'm getting one for review soon and will try it out with our C300mkII and post a long article on geardads.com

Cheers,
Slavik

When you get one, I really, really want to see footage of SLOW diagonal pans at 200mm and longer. Devin Graham did some in his YouTube clip with the N8 but he was panning so fast, you couldn't tell if it was smooth, it's looked bad to me but that could just be the strobing from panning too quickly at 24 or 30 fps. I don't see how a sub $500.00 Manfrotto could NOT have windup, backlash and stiction but maybe they pulled off a miracle? Also want to see side by side moves between the N8 and your Miller AIR.

I second that.
