Tripod/head compatability?

anyone know if a bogen 503 head will fit on the bogen/manfrotto 3445 legs?

whats the deal with the "half bowl" thing?

it'd be sick if they fit - 7.5lb tripod and head would be nice for the backcountry...

Well, the 3445 legs have a 75mm bowl, and the 503 head has 3/8" threading. So the question becomes does anyone make a conversion between the two. My guess is no... but I could be wrong.

...I realize that I didn't answer your question at all. Basically, I was rephrasing it so maybe someone reading the thread would know exactly what your looking for.

Good luck, those are some light legs!

You can get a ball adapter for $40

I have one and it works groovy - 520ball Is the # I think

EDIT: Yup - 520ball

heeey where'd you find that? :)

so what do you think? am i stoopit for going so light? will it come back to bite me?

Depends on what kind of shooting your doing. It sounds like nature/ documentary type stuff, and I think that being light weight would be a big plus.

My tripod is 16.3lbs, but I find that the weight gives me a LOT more stability. It's all relative.

shooting snowboarding and skateboarding primarily...i don't plan on these legs being the end-all, probably just a good hiking pair, nice and light for the backpack but still really good...
