hi I have read the official tripod FAQs, but still no clue..
what is the best tripod with best head which can lift my hvx200a+redrock-OR-letus 35 mm with follow focus, matte box(redrockMicro),nikon lenses of all sizes and a marshall 6" monitor.
I want to get a nice tripod once and for all..(i dont want bogen manfrotto, i already got the 501 head with 3283b legs bought on ebay for under $500)
i can spare $2500 and under.
and i am going to a store tomorrow and need answer quick before i get into the hands of some salesperson.
thanks.

You are right at the threshold of being able to buy a really great tripod. For your money, I bought the Sachtler DV-6SB with the Miller Solo DV carbon legs. The head is rated at max 20lbs. My rig is right there near 20lbs and it works well. But if you are over 20lbs, you need a beefier head than the DV-6SB.

Other DPs here have raved about the Miller Arrow 25, not sure of the exact price with sticks. I would only consider Sachtler, Miller, Panther. The Cartonis leave me lukewarm, they aren't terrible but not as good as the ones above. I do a lot of run and gun and spreaderless legs rule for what I do, that's why I love the Miller Solo legs, they are awesome, set up quick and go really high and really low.

I have an arrow 25 head on Solo legs. Love the head (2500.00). Almost as smooth as an O'Connor. VJ Legs are nice and light and I too loathe spreaders. The problem is the screw tighteners are not as quick to use on the field as legs with spreaders and quick release. Probably sell them soon.

Tim:

You are a one man Ebay auction, you seem like you are always on the quest to upgrade to better and better.

What camera are you running these days with that Miller?
