Tripod for D90 Video/Stills??

Hello,

New to the D90 and I am now in need of a tripod that will be good for both video (ie. fluid head) and stills (able to tilt camera 90 degrees for portrait shots). Was anyone else in the same boat at one time? What did you get? If anyone else has some advice it would be appreciated, I am currently lost in a world of too many options.

Don't need anything too fancy, figure even with a large telephoto zoom lens, the camera will still be light. Say no more than $300 budget.

Thanks

i'm considering getting the $180smth sticks from amvona.com (cheap and carbon fiber, look under video tripods) and probably a Miller DS10 or DS20 fluid head. dont get bogen 503, i read here somewhere that a guy shot d90 with 503 head and with the jello, "the good but NOT GREAT" really comes through

ok, i just purchased miller DS-10 alloy tripod and tripod head. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350136650930

they go retail for over $1k. i have read many reviews here and people praise ds-10 head very much, as well as the tripod. its height range is amazing and stability too with no spreaders necessary. The alloy option i got is not that much heavier than their carbon fiber one yet a couple hundred cheaper, plus this came up on ebay, so I went for it - my self Xmas present

btw, the above recommendations of mine are if you are to put some heavy lens, plate, follow focus, etc. and build your rig aimed more towards pro work.

if you are to just take simple pics for fun - then you can probably score a simple tripod for under $100.
