Hi there,
I'm looking to buy my first decent tripod. I currently use sony mirrorless cameras (a7s and a7r ii). It would be nice if my purchase could be future proof (ie if I purchased an FS7 size camera) but this is not the main priority.
I live in Australia and I don't have any local shops that stock the sort of tripods I am interested in so I will be ordering online.
I've done a fair amount of research and it seems as though the sachtler heads are excellent. My budget is approximately $2000AUD, which works out around the $1500USD.I'd extend this a little for the right option.
The FSB-4 is what I'm looking at. This seems like a great option for my current cameras but isn't as future proof as the 6 or 8.
Also I've seen the Miller Solo CF legs recommended. For anybody with experience of these do you prefer the 2-stage or 3-stage version? The smaller folded length would be great but I don't want to trade-off stability (if there is a big trade-off).
I use a cage, my heaviest lens is the 70-200FE, I'll invest in a matte box in the future (use screw on NDs at the moment), and I sometimes have a mixpre-d attached and a shotgun mic.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Am I on the right track with this combination or should I look at something different?
Thanks!
