Tripod dillema!

Hey there,

Got a Manfrotto 190XDB here with a 128RC2 head and to be honest, the head is fine but the legs are a bit wobbly.

I am in the market for something new, but cheap and I was looking at two tripods.

Either this one which seems to get good reviews: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fancier-WF-71...s_Monopods&hash=item53e4a01b9d#ht_3499wt_1139

Or this one, where the head seems a little bit sturdier: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Professional-...s_Monopods&hash=item4cf284d0b4#ht_3189wt_1139

Could you give me some advice?

Phil

I would not consider a tripod that doesn't even have a brand name, especially sight unseen. Inexpensive tripods become quite expensive as you are forced to upgrade them.

The second one will be a disappointment. The legs are ok. The head is junk. It is not a fluid head, contrary to what it says. It has simple bushings inside.

I agree with the "don't buy off brand tripods"....sure they seem cheaper than others, but the build quality is usually terrible. Get something you KNOW is reliable and suited for what you are doing, and spend the extra cash. More money up front = better return on your investment in the future.

In my experience, the cheapie tripods (had to buy a few while traveling if I broke my regular tripod) are pretty unreliable. Plastic everywhere, which gets brittle and breaks pretty quickly (on the leg locks, ect)
