hi, i m looking for a recomindtion for a tripod for docu work (mostly interviews ) as mentioned above the budget is about 200$. its has to support a dvx type of cam , no added equipment or weight added.
I'll do a disclaimer here: this tripod is sufficient only if you're not going to be doing any extensive movement (so basically static interviews). You can actually get any cheap tripod if you're not planning to move the camera, but if you're looking to get good fluid panning movement then you're going to need to spend a lot more than $200.
thnx i read the reviews, seems people for the most part like it.
is the next price step very steep?
i did some reading and i realize that with my budget i wont be geting any pro equipment, but still is there a mid way point if i jek up my budget by 100$ or are we talking here about a 1000$ for the next tier?
We're talking probably $500 minimum, maybe $400 if you can find a used deal. The next level is the low end Bogen/Manfrotto range of tripods, either the 503HDV or 501HDV head.
ok got it i will check out at ebay, although i understant its a long shot.
btw in regard to the Davis Sanford, could i change the head in the future into a higther level one from Bogen/Manfrotto?
Not sure about that. It's likely that you can just unscrew the head from the leg and put in another one, but these low end tripod might be made as one piece. Someone who owns this will have to chime in on that.
How big is the difference between a 501HDV and the head included with that Sanford tripod? Is it really necessary to get the 501 for simple pans and tilts with the occasional diagonal movement? I'm on a very limited budget and I don't want to spend another $150 on a small improvement that could be better spent on lighting or a movie's budget.
