Tripod Advice

Can anyone suggest a good tripod? I'm looking for something that's under $1300 retail. If it's around there, I'll probably buy it used, but if its cheaper, like around $500, I'll spring for it new.

I know, kind of a limited budget for sticks, but what do you guys suggest?

I've been really impressed with my Libec LS-55 so far. I bought it based on a great review of it's smaller brother: http://www.dvuser.co.uk/content.php?CID=150. Very smooth and extremely sturdy.

It costs about $850 here: http://tapeworkstexas.com/libec_ls_55.html. B&H Photo also carries it. The Libec LS-38 brand new is about $575 and just might fit your needs...

Will the LS38 hold a HVX, 35mm adaptor, possibly long lenses, rail system, matte box and an HD monitor?

Or should I go with the brother LS55?

Any advice appreciated.

The LS 38 is rated at 17.6 pounds, the 55 is rated at 22 pounds. both are two stage (the legs are in two sections). I have the 55 and like the setup. The h55 head is smooth and sure. I like the two stage as they are more compact when collapsed.
