Ok, I have a weird one here... In 8 years of FCP, I have never seen this happen.
I want to trim a clip that is already in the timeline. Usually, when the selection tool is active i just move it to the edge of of the clip and it cursor changes to the trim tool. Then I can click and drag to trim or extend the clip, right? I do this every day, many many times a day.
Except now, it doesn't change into the trim tool. This is a free-standing clip, not trying to overwrite any adjacent clips (there are none), and there is plenty of footage on either side in the master clip. I assume that I inadvertently turned off an option that allows me to do this, but I have no idea how to turn it back on if that is the case.
Please someone, help (or make me feel stupid by pointing out the obvious solution - that works too. I'm on a deadline here and this is slowing me down so much that it's worth posting).
EDIT: I'm using 6.0.4
