I've been trying to backup my project files to a cd but when I slect both the button that says save doesn't light up. Can somebody please walk me through how to back-up my project files step by step.

Thanks.

Use OSX's "Burn Folder"

Use OSX's "Burn Folder"

On your desktop, or somewhere easily accessible (and that you'll remember), right click (or control click) and create a new "Burn Folder" (also available from the "File" drop down menu in Finder).

Copy any and all project files you have into this folder.

Put your CD-R/RW into the optical drive.

Hit the button in the upper right hand corner that says "Burn."

OSX will do the rest.

I'm not a big fan of the operating system burns (on either OSX or Windows). I prefer to use Toast Titanium. If you have something like that, and would prefer to use that, just let us know specifically what software and what version it is and we can try to guide you through that process as well.

cheers.

I used to not trust the Desktop burn process, either. But having used it a lot lately, I trust it, not having any problems with it, I really like it.

But if I'm going to anything but a Mac, I used to use Toast, now I use Dragon Burn (same thing, but a lot cheaper).

All I did was take my saved fcp project file icon that was on my desktop and dragged it onto a blank cd where it is now. Did I do that correct?

Easiest way to check is to eject the CD then reload it. If it reloads back onto the desktop and you can see your FCP project file then you're okay. Though to be extra sure, might as well then drag it off the CD to your desktop and try loading it up. Any kind of backup that I'm worried about, whether its okay or not, I pretend I actually need it and then test using it to confirm its success (or possible failure).

cheers.
