Just random stuff that you have learned over the years and found helpful. Could be big or small. Could be a shortcut, a way or organizing a file, a workflow, whatever. Could be something advanced. Could be something you wished you'd have known for years or months before you figured it out. Post it up here and share!!
Example:
(1)
When importing a ton of clips, say 100, I find it useful to put all of these clips in a folder, then to make a sequence with the same name as the folder. I drag the entire folder into the sequence, putting all the clips back to back. Then I can go through the timeline and use apple+V to cut sections out and bring them up a track to extract the good clips.
I use this for live event coverage or sports highlights, rather than watching 100 clips seperately, it is much faster to scrub through. I do not find this method effective when dealing with a "planned" shoot, where I would rather label/title the clips individually.
(2)
Bring a clip to the second track and overlap it over a clip on the first. Apply a transition to the end of the clip on track 2. This is like the old school A/B editing, and it is still easier for me to perfectly match/time transition effects in this way for some things, rather than try to remember it on a single track.
-----
So post up anything! Whether you think its obvious or a neat trick, I'd love to hear how others save time, organize their workflow, or little tips/tricks/secrets/shortcuts!
