Traveling with...

So I know that my camera and tapes can go through the metal detector, and that my laptop cannot.

How about my production monitor?

Re: Traveling with...

Not sure why the monitor would be put through the metal detector. There's got to be enough metal there to set it off. Or did you mean the Xray scanner?
I don't think the Xray or metal detector will harm the monitor, but you might want to degauss before your shoot.

Re: Traveling with...

Good call, I did mean the x-ray machine.

I leave in 3 hours, so I suppose I'll find out for sure soon! Thanks for the advice.

Re: Traveling with...

You're not suppose to put your laptop through the x-ray?!? I thought that was ok to do. I put it through all the time and its been fine. Unless you have run into different.

Re: Traveling with...

Aparently you can put your laptop through. I had never flown with mine before, but I put it through and it was okay.

FYI: You CAN put a field monitor through the X-ray machine.

Re: Traveling with...

The camera didn't set off the detector? Interesting. Although I'm sure I have enough metal in my camera case to trip it anyway. I'm always being hassled by the Man. Usually because of my insulin pump. Because diabetics are eeeeevil.

Anyway, I've been putting the DVX through the x-ray with no issues that I'm aware of -- although I'll now use x-ray exposure as an excuse for poorly composited shots.
