Travel Insurance Policy for Video Equipment

I will be going on a trip for about a month. I'm aware of insurance companies that sell policies for the length of your trip but most seem to not cover expensive equipment, most only up to $1000. I'll be travelling with a $4000 video camera and will take the precautions to not have it scream "TAKE ME!!" and taking it out only when necessary. I would like to find a insurance company that have policies that are maybe more specific to videographers or photographers, etc. that will cover the equipment but not necessarily have to cover medical costs, flight delays, accidental death, etc. (Although that wouldn't be a bad thing to get too)

Anyone know of a company?

thanks

Re: Travel Insurance Policy for Video Equipment

I recommend getting rentor's insurance.

I had rentor's insurance for $15k worth of gear in my apartment and the policy actually covered the value of the equipment when I traveled over to Europe for two weeks.

It's a little known fact, but some rentors insurance policies will cover your gear against theft while traveling abroad.

I paid $150 for a years worth of coverage on $15k of gear that covered me in Europe. Not a bad deal!

Yeah i've heard about renters insurance covering your stuff outside the apartment. I should give my agent a call and find out. I guess I just never understood how that could be since it's RENTERS insurance and not TRAVELLERS. Well this is the 3rd or 4th time i've heard about this so I should check it out.

Thanks!
