I just found a large convex glass mirror in the trash that’s perfectly intact. I was thinking what a waste of money and wouldn’t it be nice if I had a use for it…too bad. Later that night I realized it might come in handy for some lighting scenario so I went back to grab it…lucky me. Has anybody used these for any useful purpose or should I put it back in the trash? This baby is easily 36” across and not a bad weight. Its something you might see in a large dept store for shoplifting etc. I could attach a baby pin on this easily. I’m thinking maybe it will produce and amazing soft light for outdoor scenarios? A sun reflector/diffuser maybe? Even a redhead I suppose. Thumbs up or thumbs down?

If one is familiar with these... you will know that by looking into a convex mirror one will see a much larger picture than a flat mirror [of the same size] will deliver, so by inverse law, light directed into the mirror from a single point would be spread over a larger area and I assume be much softer. So for a hard light, as the full sun is, this might be the perfect HMI.

Additionally, a flat reflector, I assume, must be "spot on the target" to be of value, where as this convex mirror might be more forgiving, maybe allowing the "one man band" type of shooter, do his own reflecting and shooting at the same time...esp with the sun on the move.
