Transparent Video?

I'm using Premiere 2.0 and when I want to apply the same black and white effect to about 500 clips, I figured all I would need to do is place a transparent video clip on the above track and apply the effect to that, however when I do that, there is no change made whatsoever..Any ideas?

Nest you Sequence into a new Sequence. The Sequence you nest will show up like a video clip in the new Sequence. Add Black & White to the Sequence you just nested in in your new Sequence.

As far as i know, Transparent Video can only be used to apply the Timecode effect in PPro 2.0.

Also, if the 500 clips are on the timeline you can color correct one clip the way you want it, control C the effect in the effect window of that clip, control A [select all] and then control V to paste the effect to all of the clips at once on the timeline.

Transparent video will work on some other effects also - its a bit trial and error.
eg CC Rain /CC Snow

i confirm the right method for this is the nested sequence.

You are applying the effect to a video track which is above the tracks you want to modify. i dont see why the change should affect the clips in the underlying track.. The fact that the clip on the above track is transparent is not a valid reason for the effect to 'fall' on the underlying tracks...

Nesting would be best for that, but good thinking with the transparent video. Because of the clip\crop controls in premiere, I usually pull in a blank PSD file and put my mask (1:84 or 2:40 depending on who I'm working for) on the PSD. Because when you mask footage and adjust the framing it raises the mask as well. Whereas with the blank PSD being masked, my footage is free to move behind the mask, it's a really good system, glad someone else would try to get some use out of it.
