hey guy in dvx user land. I really need help with after effects. I'm trying to do a simple title animation and put it in premire with the black in the comp transparent with the other video, but every time I render out the animation, when i put it in permire i still get the black video under my animation. i know there's a way to do it, cause I've done it before without knowing it. please guys i really need your help.

thanks

Scott, the Animation codec is a Quiktime one only right? Just curious.

In an .avi, you would have to render uncompressed, or with a codec that supports RGB+Alpha, found in your Render window> Output module>Channels> RGB+Alpha. for Avi, Uncompressed, Microsoft H.263 (which I think is a Quicktime codec) allow that. Others, like DV and Divx dont', but allow you to render just Alpha, located in the same place.

So b boy, if you can't find a codec from RGB+Alpha, you can render out just the alpha from premiere, or use its filters to create a high contrast black and white one to be used in AE as a track matte. Either method, using a video with an embedded Alpha or a serperate movie with the Alpha represented is fine, especially if you use it on another track as a Track Matte, because that allows you to work on the alpha seperately, and you can get different results.

yo we together in this. i love all you guys. if there's anything you ever wonna know. please get at me. scott that help me so much. last night my head was hurting trying get that down and just like that. you help me. thanks . we down for the long run.

easier yet would be to just do a luma key on the imported footage in PPRO and key out only true black. that would remove the background for you. if the luma key gives you trouble you can also make a solid in AE which is either chroma green or blue and use it as the backdrop and then do a chroma key in PPRO for the exact color. or use whatever color would make the best chroma key. ive used either method without any problems, but using an alpha channel would be the best.
