Transition and Keyboard shortcut problem

I have done a search for these subjects on the forum, but have found nothing.

1. I have some stills at the begginning of the time line lasting about 4 seconds each. When I go to the transition tab, and choose one, I cannot drag and drop it to the event, it immediately turns into the "NO" symbol.

2. In Vegas, your suppposed to be able to nudge along the time line by doing a CTRL-Right Arrow, but when I do that, it goes to the END of the entire event, which is 38 minutes long. It also seems like a lot of these shortcuts are not working properly, probably because I have it in the "wrong mode" or a switch is not turned on?

3. Specifically, I am trying to show three still shots in a row, no sound, transitioning using soft flash between them, then leading into the first frame of a concert that fades in with sound and music if that info helps.

Thanks in advance if you can help, I did give it my best effort to look this up on my own....

You have to drop the transition onto a CROSSFADE. Overlap the clips and then drop the transition onto the overlap. If you don't want the events shorter (caused by moving one over the other to create the overlap) then just make the events longer.

Try ALT-Right Arrow. That will always move one frame to the right. CTRL-Right Arrow will jump to the next MARKER or the end of the timeline if there are no more markers.

Moving one frame over

Moving one frame over

I thought just pressing the right or left arrow ( no alt or ctrl key) will move you one frame to the right or left.... maybe i'm misunderstanding something haha.

It can, but that depends on how far you're zoomed in on the timeline.

Technically, it moves you one "pixel". It could be one frame. It could be multiple frames.
