Transistion effect??

There's this cool transition in Shane Hurlbut's film, "Last 3 minutes" that we're looking to recreate in FCP. Check out 3:30 - 3:33 at http://vimeo.com/10570139. It looks like they used the Fisheye effect, but instead of it distorting from the center of the frame out, it distorts from the edge of the frame in. Can't find any filter that is capable of doing that..

Any ideas?

Had forgotten about this great little film - was good to see it again. I was having problems with Vimeo, but it looked to me like the distortion isn't symmetrical -- the edges distort out while the very center of the full frame remains with maybe the bottom center distorting a little. This could be fairly easily done in AE using an animated Mesh Warp filter. Guess that doesn't help much with FCP, but there may be something similar to the Mesh Warp in Motion.
