transformer for dvx batteries overseas.

A quick question. I'm going to shoot for a while in India and I'm looking for reccomendations for a reliable power transformer that I can use to charge my batteries safely there. I think besides the batteries themselves that will be my only power issue. Anyone, have any other good suggestions for technical things to consider when shooting (doc) in India? Also thinking about making a sort of camera cover to be slightly less conspicuous, any suggestions about somthing like this that is made for the DVX100a. Thanks

Your charger for the DVX is already rated for voltage between 110 to 240 volts so you dont really need any transformer, but, you will need a plug adaptor to change the shape of the plug.

The plug in India is round pin, so you need an adaptor to change the two flat pins to two round pins. Other than that you are good.

Just came back after my four months trip in India, more of a personal trip though. Did shoot bits and pieces here and there.

What is your doc about?

Good luck.

Thanks , thats something of a relief. You should go to our website theres a trailer there, too. It's about India and Pakistan relations through the "eye" of Cricket and a team of Cricket players in Chicago who play on a team together (Indians and Pakistanis). www.legbeforewicket.org I'm going for about a month to India and maybe Pakistan as well, although the Pakistan consultate is a little wary and haven't given us visas yet. So is that true? I really won't need anything but a converter? You charged some while you were there? I want to be totally sure before I go, but I can't afford any more weight, I have so much other junk to bring. That's great news, if so. Thanks.

Personal experience being what it may,
I bought a normal power converter kit and plug adapter set in the luggage section of wally world and used it in the UK and a few bits of Europe without any problem.
The power supply is rated for 240 volts but so was my pc powersupply and even when switched ::blamo::
we run our old appliances from the RSA through converters here as well.
Better safe then sorry replacing a powersupply would not be fun, a fuse in a converter is not nearly as big an issue..
