Transfering footage to AE?

Hello. I am importing footage onto my mac with FCP. The footage is HDV 1080i 60 and 29.97. Now I want to take that footage over to my PC where I have After Effects installed. When I do that all the video clips just appear as a white box in After Effects. What is the problem? I have also tried using quicktime conversion with a variety of different compressors and After Effects still does not see the video. What is the problem?

Should I change my import settings when capturing the footage? Should I export the footage with a particular codec for After Effects to be able to see it? Thanks for any hlep.
 
I do have the latest version of Quicktime installed on the PC. Just checking now and Quicktime won't even play any of the videos. It is just a black screen with the sound.

The clips play in VLC player and that's all.
 
Hmmm... I wonder if the HDV codecs aren't part of the standard QT download!!???!!

THAT would cause this... but also REALLY suck! Sorry I don't have an answer for you.
