Transfering FCP to another mac help

Going to buy a mac with fcp already on it. Going to use that mac to buy a better mac later on. Can I transfer the fcp on the old into the new? If so how?

Depends what you mean by move...

Depends what you mean by move...

To you use your current FCP on a new computer all you need is the installation discs and the serial number. If you decide to sell or old one just make sure to clear it off from there so your serial number for FCP doesn't go floating around.

If you mean trying to keep settings and all the like, you'll need to manually move those over. You'll have to go into your library and snag all your custom presets, preferences, and the like if you want to take those over. And you'll need all the initial installers for any kind of extra codecs, filters, etc. that you may have installed.

cheers.

You can't "transfer", but you can install from the same disks. Just delete it from the old computer when you sell it.

Actually you can move it with the migration assistant (or whatever it is in English) in you utilities folder. All your files, programs and settings without a hardware lock will work on your new machine.

Then just format the old machines drive and you're legally good to go.

Be careful, not all pro apps carry their registration with the Migration Manager. Installing from scratch is always a better way to go. I've used Migration Manager with several sysetms, with very mixed results. Nice, but not bullet proof.
