Transcoding HDV to work with HDDVCPRO?

I have been using my Canon HV20 (1440 x 1080) to shoot b roll footage for a film being shot with the Panasonic HVX200 in (960 x 720).

Now I am ready to start editing the material together. Does it make sense to transcode all of the 1080i HDV footage to 720p HDDVCPRO so that I am working in the same codec?

OR

Should I convert the HDV to Apple ProRes 422 and use that along side the HDDVCPRO? (I have so much HDDVCPRO that it doesn't make sense to convert that to ProRes 422)

Does it make sense to down convert the 1080 to 720 during the transcode or just scale down the video in FCP?

Thanks

i recently ran into this issue -
working with SD/HDV/DVCPRO and XDCAM formats for my reel -

i experimented with scaling formats in FCP.
it worked pretty well, but transcoding everything to
the DVCPRO HD codec gave much better results.
(and better rendering times)

we transcoded everything to DVCPRO 59 FPS
(down sizing & upsizing all clips to those specs)

hope that helps!

Thanks. I will transcode the HDV to DVCPRO HD in 720p size based on your testing.

Just for future reference, are file sizes smaller with DVCPRO HD than ProRes 422?

Does it make sense when working with HDV to transode to DVCPRO HD to work with a better editing codec?
