I'm working on a project where it was shot 23.98, and digitized in 720P 59.94, but I now have to down convert all HD clips to 23.98 DV since we are reaching more than 100 tapes and project is getting way too big. We should've downconverted in the first place since we'll be going to online house later to rebuild the show but it's too late now.
Anyway, I tried using compressor, and some transcoded footage using 23.98 DV setting results in excellent quality without any jitter, and also conforms HD footage timecode which is what I want. However other footage transcoded with exact same setting has jitter and does not conform the original tape timecode. They were shot exactly the same way, but I don't know why some footage is ok and some are not. Is this the pulldown issue? Should I have transcoded to 29.97 instead?
Ideally we would want to make 24p master.
