Transcode 24pN footage in 23.98 timeline to 59.94

Hi, I asked this question in the HVX forum, but since it's kind of FCP specific it was suggested that I post it here for Noah or someone to take a crack at.

I have a project that I shot in 24pN on the HVX - I edited this in FCP 6 with a 23.98 timeline...I know how to transcode this to MPEG-2 for DVD etc...but I need to go back out to a Panasonic 1400 DVCPRO HD deck (on DVCPRO tape). I am being told that the deck can only record in 59.94 -- so my question is how do I take this project in a 23.98 timeline and move it into a 59.94? Is it as simple as copying and pasting it into a new project?...or will that shift my sync/mess up the footage size etc.

Thanks to anyone that can help...I'm doing this output tomorrow so any tips are appreciated.

Thanks again,
Mark.

Okay, so I just tried to copy and paste the 23.98 sequence into a 720p 60p (59.94) sequence...and the audio drifts...what does this mean? I'm not a technical person when it comes to framerates etc. --- Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,
Mark.

I don't work with p2 much, but isn't the compressor that is used 720/60? Isn't that is what DVCProHD is natively?
Have you tried just hooking up the deck and sending it to tape?

Just output to the deck via firewire or if you have a capture card, that way. It will be recorded as 24P at 59.94. Should be fine.

So the hardware will handle it coming from Final Cut Pro with a 23.98 timeline? I have the user manual PDF but I couldn't confirm that anywhere?

Thanks,
Mark.
