I'm new to the Lav world. I usually do narrative films, but in the foreseable future I'm going to be doing some Conferences and Training Videos, so I see the need for some Lavaliers.
After reading through Puredrifting's amazing Lav article, I've pretty much narrowed my choice down to the TRAM TR50 because it's affordable and I hear so many good things about it, especially that it can cut between a shotgun very well, so that pleases me.
My question however, is if I want to go wireless, what is the best way to do this, and are there tricks I need to be aware of? Can I simply buy a TRAM TR50 off BHphotovideo aswell as a G2 transmitter and be good to go? or are there certain models that don't correspond or middle pieces I need to purchase?
Also, I've seen that for wireless, it comes down to G2 vs. Lectrosonic, which is considerably more expensive. Does one really need to go all out on Lectrosonic? I'm doing professional work, but nothing like real feature films or anything like that.
Thanks so much,
David Nussbaum
