Trailers w/o Voice Talent?

[dnachtrab]

Hi all,

Recently, a friend of mine pointed out that a lot of the movie trailers on apple.com do not include voice overs. I do know these trailers get a make-over closer to release and do include VO talent. My question to you is why does the industry do this? Are these "sizzle reels" that I have read about in other posts?

Thanks,

Dan

Well, if you're refering to indie films then I have a guess. Most trailers with VO use the same 1 or 2 voices. Everyone knows what there voices sound like. If the trailer generates interest on it's own, then it'll be worth hiring one of the famous voices to add to the trailer.
