Track FX and Event FX

I was playing with some footage in Vegas 5 and had a short clip on the timeline. I adjusted by using different things on the Event FX (brightness/contrast, color corrector, etc) and got a good look for the short clip. I then added other video events to the timeline and want to apply the same chain of adjustments to all events on the timeline. How can I do this without having to manually recreate the Event FX in Track Events?

Thanks...

Re: Track FX and Event FX

You can save the chain from that one event and then apply it to the track, rather than the individual events.

The Save As is in the plug-in chooser.  Just open up the plug-in chooser as if you were going to add another plug-in, and then do the save.

You'll most likely have to remove the effects from the single event after putting the chain in the track.  Don't want to double up on them there...

Re: Track FX and Event FX

Two ways.

1) Right-click and copy the clip with the effects. Then right-click another clip and choose "paste event attributes." This will paste everything, including envelopes, cropping, etc.. It will also put the effects on top of whatever other effects might already be there.

2) Open up the effects editor from the little green cross on the clip. Look at the top; you'll see the little green cross icon, and one next to it with a line through it. Pick the one without a line. This will allow you to save the effects as an effects chain in the Plug-In Chooser, which you can then select to add to any other event.

GenJerDan- I tried that and saved my collection of plug-ins as a preset. But when I moved to the next clip and clicked the event fx, I got the regular list of Sony Fx Plug-ins and I dont see my saved preset. If I go back to my original event on the timeline and click on its Event Fx, I get the dropdown box and see my saved preset as an option. I am prob jsut doing something screwey wrong with that because logically that should work for me. Thanks and I'll keep trying this suggestion because I'm stubborn and want to know what I am doing wrong.

David- option number 1 worked just fine. Thanks. I will also go back and try your suggestion #2.

Thanks guys!

Re: Track FX and Event FX

Yep, its all working now. I have some nonsense clips captured in Vegas and I am having an amazing time learning this software. Advance apologies for elementary questions, but I do use the manual, the online help, and search on here before asking. Just couldnt get the keystrokes down on that one lastnight. I do indeed see my newly created filter package. :) I love this program!

Got Gary's Vegas 5 Companion set? Very nice. Very helpful.

Not yet, but I have been able to look thru Spot's Vegas 4 from the library. I just got the software last Friday and my head still feels like its overloading when I sit down and play. ;D But its a happy feeling.

Re: Track FX and Event FX

There are important differences between Vegas 4 and Vegas 5, particularly in compositing. Spot's Vegas 4 guide is still quite viable for much, but a Vegas 5 guide will get you the rest of the way.
