track compression question

This isn't vegas specific, but felt it could best be awnsered here, as the audio forum is more production oriented than post production audio oriented.

If say your project master audio is peaking around -6db, what track compression ratio would be optimal for TV? Say putting it on a dvd for TV viewing.

Reason I ask...had a project peaked at -6db, sounded great on my computer/speakers, outputted to dvd for TV and their was clipping although it didn't go into the red in the editor.

Hey STYLZ, I usually run my audio with a 2:1 compression with the peak at around -1db. I have not had any problems with clipping. Did you try opening your exported wave file in an editor (Sound Forge) or something like that to see if it had any clipping?
