Total G5/FCE Workflow for ACHDV: Hot or Not

Okay. This is the total workflow I'm considering, so tell me if you think this is hot or not. I may not be able to get the new FCP but I believe FCE is well within my reach. Now this is what I'm thinking:

1. Since the new FCP/FCE software won't edit ACVHD on PowerPCs you can get a copy of Toast (I talked about this already) and convert the files, Toast is actually pretty quick at doing this too.

2. FCE doesn't do 24p so go ahead and keep the files @ 30p when you convert the files via (The 24p video will be in a 30p stream on some of the Canons consumer models).

3. Edit the project as a 30p project in the open Timeline and output it.

4. Convert to 24p via Apple Compressor.

5. Once you're all said and done and you've got your final version, take your file and save it to a small harddrive and have it dubbed to HD master. Your distributor will want this if you have distribution.

So, what do you think about this workflow. I haven't tried it yet but it makes sense. Is there anything I'm overlooking?

Also I need to decide between a 1.83 Mac Mini or a G5 Dual Processor Mac. Both at about the same price point. Which one do I buy? What do you guys think? I know people do HDV and use the HM100 flawlessly on the G5s, but what about ACVHD and using the process describe above. I would think the iMac is faster processorwise and I don't use Motion but I'll be doing a lot of After Effects stuff and I believe that's GPU intensive.

The Programs I will be using are:

1. FCP/FCE
2. Toast or Voltaic HD (but if I get the Mac Mini I don't think I'll need this but I may get Toast anyway)
3. LiveType (Maybe)
4. After Effects CS3 Pro-bundle
5. Compressor
6. iDVD/DVDStuido Pro
