Based solely on all of the positive things I read on this forum, I bought the Toshiba 14AF44 to be used as a cheap video monitor while editing. You guys were right. What a deal! It's a great little TV, and I got if from Amazon for only $133.94 -- that includes shipping and everything.

BTW, if you order it from Amazon, be sure to get the Super Saver shipping. It's suppose to take longer, but it's free and I still got it in just one week (Kentucky to California).

Heya:

How would you calibrate such a monitor? Can you turn off individual color channels, or do you just unplug the component video cable as needed? ;)

the component cable thing is very interesting, I never thought about that. Usually you would just put a blue gel infront. Let me know if the component thing works.

Which video editing card do you have hooked up to it?
Output from video editing card via Composite, SVIDEO or Component?

Firewire to deck, Component out to TV. For me, I am using the 24" version of this TV. Works great. Gotta try that Blue only method...never considered that either.

Really? I can't tell if you're serious or not. I noticed that my footage does look a little on the red side. :-[

That's most likely the DVX, not the TV. It pushes toward the red. This can be remedied by adjusting the chroma phase in the scene file.
