How the heck do you pull that off? Also is the big open warehouse scene with the spotlight and smoke real or is it greenscreen?

Looks like A LOT of compositing in something like After Effects. Probably some green screen or just rotoscoping work.

As for the effect you see, you can automate the rotation of the image as one way to do it, although it requires a camera with really nice resolution so when you are rotated 90 degrees, since you need to grow the image overal for that part to cover the rotation.

The other way is I have seen people use mounts for cameras that EXACTLY rotate at the lens center. They used one in Crank 2: High Voltage (you can see it on the extra featurette). It looks like something they made custom.

Probably executed using a 360 degree y-axis rotation in after effects with some wiggler on the footage for the image shake. That effect looks pretty artificial to me, not sure how it fits into the song.

Definitely completely done in post as they both say above. Almost positive this is shot in 4K on the RED to allow for very easy manipulation of the images. If you look at (0:25) you will notice slight motion blur in mid pan, but after that it remains sharp with no motion blur. They must have had Lil' Wayne camera left out of frame, panned to him and stopped, as soon as it stops the image begins being rotated in post. If this was done in camera you would be able to tell very easily in my opinion. It would give a completely different look, though be a bit more difficult as well.

So I just finished watching it, I do believe it is post and not a real camera move with a higher shutter speed. I would like to see how it looks in camera because it would definitely be a completely different look, than maybe experiment with different shutters as well, may be interesting.

Now for some non-full rotations on a video that are done in-camera. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaXaig_43lU

See how they definitely provide a very different sensation than the Lil' Wayne John video?

You can see here, the three rotation points in the Super-Technocrane head. See the how the camera is sitting on a L-bracket, which has the lens centered on the cross bar? That cross bar is the tilt, and there is a motor on that L-shape bracket which is a nodal-point rotation for the 'spin' effect. The pan is controlled from the top, I think I almost cut it out of the screen-shot.

Z-head, with roll ability.

Thats what i'm puzzled about. They obviously could've done it either way with the Super-TechnoCrane on set. But i'm not sure at all because the spin at 0:25 has a pan before it and that has motion blur, but the spin doesn't have any whatsoever. Only other option about not using a fast shutter would be to do some sort of clever speed ramping. But, one thing I do know is if I had a Super-TechnoCrane on set, I definitely would be doing it in camera.
