I am a fun of Top Gear program in BBC and of course fun of Jeremy Clarkson.I wonder for a long time but couldn't figure it out. What kind of camera they use for the shootings? Does anyone have idea or know something about it.It is probably a HD project but what kind of process? It seems it has a lot work or Color correction and compositing.Could it be HVX?Or broadcast quality f900r etc..

thankx

Most probably Sony's XDCAM and their smaller siblings (Z1, A1) on the in-car shots. No HVX here most definitely. BBC is now on HD broadcast. Top Gear has excellent cinematography throughout their series. Matteboxes with filters would definitely be used if not post production would give that surreal look to almost all their segments.

Then its a good performance for XDCAM,yes fitering is a good issue but still lots of post production i think so..

I came here to ask about this. Does anyone have any behind-the-scenes looks at anything from the show? I'm interested about the filters and color effects they use on their outdoor beauty shots.

I love the show.

I've only seen some behind-the-scenes stuff on the show itself. The "beauty" shots of the cars are done with a blue mist filter, and also a pretty hard gradient filter. Not even sure if they do any post processing. Also, most of their shoots are done early morning...and it's usually cloudy there.

Top Gear is being shot in standard def. There is only one episode shot in HD -- North Pole special. Search for it on torrent sites, there are two versions: 720p and 1080p, both look hundred times better than their regular shows.
