Top 5 Movies Of All Time

I'm just curious to know what are the top 5 movies of all time everyone on this site has. Now, I know it's tough to just narrow it down to just five, but if you had no choice, stranded on a desert island and you only had 5 movies to choose from, which one would they be and why?

just for reference, mines are...

1.Vanilla Sky (Spanish version)
2. Terminator 2
3. Seven
4. Sweet dreams
5. Empire Strikes back

"...stranded on a desert island and you only had 5 movies to choose from, which one would they be..."

Dolly dates Detroit
Dolly dates San Francisco
Dolly dates NYC
Dolly dates Molly
&
Castaway

:)

Godfather trilogy(for arguments sake let's count it as one movie)
the thin red line(poetry in motion man)
true romance
shawshank redemption(gives me hope)
baraka(it's obvious why isn't it?)

The Outlaw Josey Wales(best western ever IMHO)
Jaws
Star Wars Trilogy(the first three counting as one)
LOTHRs (counting as one)
Pulp Fiction

I'm cheating here to get the most bang for my buck.

It was hard to pick but I guess this would be my top 5 “Deserted Island” list: (maybe)

The Shawshank Redemption
Bringing out the Dead (Bad movie but it makes me laugh)
The Phantom of the Opera
The Pianist
Secret Window

If I was stranded on a desert island I don't think I would have any interest in studying film, so this is what I would pick just for pure entertainment(keeping sane) and some sentimental value.

Freddy got fingered(I've already watched it over 30 times)
Pulp fiction(ok maybe one film to study :))
Mr. Deeds(seen about as many times as Freddy got fingered)
Tommy Boy(who wouldn't want this with them)
Stealing Harvard(Jason Lee and Tom Gree, fun for the whole Island)

If I got stranded on a deserted island, I would only bring one movie.

Monty Python: Life of Brian.

What a great way to remind someone how not to miss the presence of the human race.

Then again, if there were no other humans on the island, pretty soon LOB would lose its relevance.

Top 5 Movies of All Time (to me!)

1. Star Wars: A New Hope
2. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
3. The Godfather
4. Dawn of the Dead (1978)
5. The Wicker Man

Four from the 1970's... I was just a wee child, but I guess the pop culture just seeped right in.

In my most humble opinion:

1. Casablanca
2. Star Wars - A New Hope
3. It's A Wonderful Life
4. Raiders of the Lost Ark
5. The Godfather Part 2

1. Platoon
2. Forest Gump (this could be up for review though)
3. Where Eagles Dare
4. Jurrasic Park
5. and of course... Commando at number one, by a fair margin.

...and how about a remote. Because I HATE getting up to go to the DVD player. If there's no remote, I'd rather not have anything.

1. Fight Club
2. LOTR Trilogy (for argument's sake)
3. Se7en
4. Boiler Room
5. Citizen Kane (call it archaic if you must, I think it's a masterpiece.)

If Commando is number one, then why is it #5 on the list?

This is tough:

1. LOTR Trilogy
2. Bottle Rocket (or Rushmore, I'm torn)
3. Saving Private Ryan
4. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
5. Goonies

I guess that's my top five...hmmm, that's still tough.

I saved the best until last!

I typed that and knew someone would say that... DAMN YOU TC!

if I was stranded on an Island, I would take "cast away" =)

Top 5 movies to me (no order):

The Sixth Sense
Requiem for a dream
Vertigo
The Thing
Godfather

You see.

Sixth sense- To make myself think everytime I watch it.
Requiem of a dream- A lesson not to snort anything on that island.
The thing- Not to help a dog people in helicopters will be shooting at.
Godfather- To make me believe that I am the Don of the island.
Vertigo- To show my ape friends the talent of a master director.

=)

1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
3. The Big Lebowski
4. Gattaca
5. The Royal Tenenbaums

that's probably wrong.. who knows what I'd pick
