Top 100 Toys

Re: Top 100 Toys

This was called "Run Yourself Ragged" here in the Home of the Brave.

THIS thing kicked ass. We were finding little yellow weighted parachutes around the house for YEARS.

I had the evil black version of this called the Intruder. I used it in my very first movie.

Somehow, this didn't last long.

Dig the British box on this thing (which still sits in my mom's garage):

No home was without.

This is the only one I recognize. My younger brother had it. You could make Evel stand on the seat as he rode his bike down the street.

Kinda like Indian Larry... who died, btw.  :-/

Oh yeah, I do recognize Spirograph! Those small, clear 'gears' were all over the house.

Re: Top 100 Toys

I busted open my piggy bank for the 6-Million Dollar Man doll when I was eight, had TCR racing in my room until my brother took a leak on the track (while it was plugged in) and spent about a thousand hours on Merlin.

This one is missing...

And I cannot remember the name of the enormous plastic aircraft carrier I had sometime around 1974 or '75. It had two working rubber band catapults which launched two foamy-rubber P51 airplanes. I remember this toy being about 4' long - course, that could be due to the fact I was 3' high at the time!

Re: Top 100 Toys

I've got that Frogger -- and the Donkey Kong.

My brother also had the carrier -- it launched Corsairs, too.

Re: Top 100 Toys

Oh, and how is it that they missed these?!!:

Remember the secret compartment in the floor?

I had almost as much fun with this POS as Timmy in that picture there.

If I hadn't, I'd be reminded now, because my girlfriend just got me one for Christmas . . .   ;D

Re: Top 100 Toys

Sweet... I just noticed that I posted the die-cast MF instead of the Kenner version. Naughty! We all know the die-cast was so 1978 poseur!

Re: Top 100 Toys

It's the thought that counts! :D

I never had the MF as a kid. The Death Star, but never the MF. Could be that I went through so many X-Wings, what with my brother breaking them and the neighbor kid stealing them and whatnot.

Re: Top 100 Toys

Jeesh, that brings back memories.

I had a very cool "Space: 1999 Eagle" model that put many hours of "fly" time around my "base". Oh, and from the British UFO show. a die-cast troop carrier with a roof that rotated and popped up a missile launcher.... lots of cool stuff now mia.

Re: Top 100 Toys

I remember having the Eagle playset where you could take off the command module and the rockets and make a tiny ship . . . and the "action figures" were orange and molded into their poses -- sitting, standing, etc. . . .

They've re-released Merlin. I saw one at *your* Super Wal-Mart.

However, the buttons are lame.

Re: Top 100 Toys

Yeah, that early Merlin had those round membrane buttons that lit up from the back.

David - can you ask your brother if he remembers what the aircraft carrier was called? I think you were right on the Corsairs - were P51s even carrier based?
