Wow the 70's seemed like it was the heyday of cinema. Alas, I await those days once again.

I couldn't agree more! (Although I'm not sure we'll see it happen again in quite the same way.)

It probably has to do with the age I was during the 70's (a kid), but the tone/resonance of so many films from that decade just really grabs me.

The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Dirty Harry
Klute
The Conversation
Wait Until Dark
Black Christmas
Hallowe'en
Billy Jack
Jaws
Chinatown
The Godfather 1 and 2
MASH
The Exocist
Play Misty For Me
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Taxi Driver
Enter the Dragon
Oliver (I know, it was actually 1968)
Rosemary's Baby

All very different, but they do have a certain "patina" about them that I find kinda similar. A few directors (Rob Zombie most notably) have done an awesome job in recreating/referencing that flavor, that layer of grit, but it still feels different.

Maybe I'm just sounding old fashioned...
