Too bad: no new EVFs...

I was really hoping to see some new EVFs on this year's NAB...

It's a shame that we are limited to like 5 different third part EVFs, where so far each of them have at least one serious flaw or more...

I was really expecting an EVF that is both hdmi and SDI, high resolution ( please, no more retina sales pitch... It's for iPhone, not camera evf...), all image control features and that it looks esteticly pleasing ( not like a 30+ years tin box with loupe)... I was hoping for Zacuto MKII or SmallHD dp4 MKII.... No luck this year...
 
Given the resolution of the panels available, why would you want or need an SDI connection ? Do you just want the option of having both connections or do you just not like the HDMI connection reliability (i.e. accidental disconnection)?

Sure, solid connectivity is high on the list. But, I would love to have ONE great evf for ALL cameras I might use ( rent)... With out adding additional converters, wires, etc... I see my self using BMC soon and that device is hdsdi only... DSLRs are hdmi only... Getting confusing... You see what I mean...
 
Gotta say I'm quite excited about the update to the Alphatron. A screen protector and more signal analysis tools makes it quite tempting to me:)

I tried Alphatron when it was first out... Even with all new added features, bottom line screen is not "$1000 more" better than my SmallHD DP4... It is NOT high resolution screen. Enough said....
 
I check out Sony' OLED one for the F5/F55. It was pretty sweet. But I believe it's only for Sony's new cameras.

Btw, what EVER happened to RedRocks vaporware EVF?

it's available on the same spot where Birger's FZ/EOS mount is... Wonderland!

Redrock does not even mention it...

Kinotehnik: 800x480... Not enough, just OK as my current DP4. I would like "sweet one" along the lines of Sony new stuff... Wishful thinking I guess...
 
I just want a small form factor, a-la bomb EVF for $1500. I cant wait for the loop on a 4 3" LCD monitor design to go away.

I think the main stumbling blockis is no cheap hi res 1" OLED displays. The major inovation is for smart phone displays so it makes sense that we have such big ass EVFs. I thought that this would be the year we would see some 2nd gen tech.
